Liz Phair (born Elizabeth Clark Phair on April 17, 1967 in New Haven, Connecticut) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. Phair's entry into the music industry began when she met guitarist Chris Brokaw, a member of the band Come. Brokaw was visiting her San Francisco loft-mate Nora Maccoby when he heard Phair's songs, and encouraged her to record them. After moving back to Chicago, Phair began writing songs and recording homemade tapes under the name Girly Sound, and supported herself by selling her drawings on the streets of Chicago. She soon became apart of the alternative music scene in Chicago and became friends with Material Issue and Urge Overkill, two of Chicago's upstart bands to go national in the early 1990s, as well as Brad Wood and John Henderson, head of Feel Good All Over, an independent label in Chicago.

I’ll Get You High Lyrics

Liz Phair

Saw your car, so I know youre here
Its been such a long time, looking totally weird
But I dont remember why
Pull the trigger and die
What a beautiful day for a drive
Not a cloud left in the sky
Why dont you give me a ride to the studio
Ill get you high
Ill get you high
[sung to the tune of the flintstones theme:]
Bimbo, meet the bimbo
Shes a modern stone-age family
Drowned out, thrown out of glencoe
Shes a face without a history
Now that cat will stay out for the night
Fred gets in a terrifying fight
We all back down and beg him not tonight
Come in the living room and dry your eyes
Dry your eyes
In that old familiar valley
Where I have dumped my heavy load
Mom and dad sit back in the loveseat
From too much loss, from too much hope
What a beautiful day for a drive
Not a cloud left in the sky
Why dont you give me a ride to the studio
Ill get you high
Ill get you high
